monster task

So after getting back my art books from A2 i was finally able to begin returning to the roots of a style I once developed, a form of a sketchy chiaroscuro that helped create depth.

Alongside the black and white pieces I had a few ink pieces

After I produced a few initial ideas i begun to form a darker themed creature that appeared frail and yet powerful something that appeared bony and starved, yet it showed great power and strength.

After a few studies i came to the idea of the sentinel who has wings spanning over a great distance, two differently sized arms and an unproportioned body.

I wanted to give him empty eyes that seemed to have an eerie glow, alongside a certain happiness, the happiness of receiving new prey and moving those old bones.

When I began the figure i knew i would still experiment upon the design during production

i gave him different sets of muscles that would match the needs of his power, the strong arm and the swift arm.

update

A bit into the sculpture i decided to give him weapons that would match the two arms, a slightly bulky short sword that could slice with once side and maul with the other, a weapon that would show the years of use.
the second is a swift spear like sword that would match the fast arm.

update

This is the fastest sculpture i have made so far, I never imagined I'd be able to produce near satisfactory weapons from polymer clay.
another evening should give me enough time to finish this.

Here are the closeup of the monsters arms showing the freakish nature of the creature.

Some tests to the hands and weapon holding..... a thumb fell off.

I will continue

update

Oh dear, the picture quality that once seemed so great is now merely potato quality.

The additions are the rib cage area, horns and some spikes on the back.
